Details of the official Wedding Day
Wedding Questions & Answers
-
Wait, did you already get married?
According to the law, yes. But don't worry, for us this is the day that matters. Our way around protecting ourselves and our house was to sign some papers at city hall in Sept 2024. However, that was 10 minutes with a signature. Our vows, our rings & the people we love and care about will all be present for August 16 2025 so for us - this is the real deal.

Where is the wedding?
We have decided to get married in Erwin's home town in Veghel. Veghel is in the south of the Netherlands, although we love it we wouldn't reccommend staying there for much longer than the wedding as there isn't a lot to do. We have chosen to get married at De Afzakkerij in Noordkade, our favourite place in town. This will host everything, ceremony, dinner, dancing, drinking etc.

How do we get there?
We know all of you have come from so far and will be staying in our area of the country so we have arranged for a bus to pick everyone up in Amsterdam (if you are staying elsewhere please find your way to Amsterdam or feel free to meet us in Veghel!) on us that will get you directly to where you need to be. Also a pre-party with all your fellow Canadians.

What time does everything start?
We are still over a year away so nothing is confirmed yet but we are looking at the wedding beginning around 15:00 (3pm) and then going until midnight or so. We will make sure the bus gets you there in time!

What about after the wedding?
There is an insanely beautiful boutique hotel across from the wedding location. it's literally a quick stumble across the parking lot (we will also sleep there) called The Yard Hotel https://www.theyardhotel.nl/en/. We have all the rooms reserved in our name so feel free to book one with them directly just let them know you are with us (they answer their emails and you can send it in English). Alternatively it is always possible to take the train back to Amsterdam or wherever you are staying, that is no problem. Whatever fits your needs best! There is also tons of endless free parking. Another option is just a quick cab ride away in Uden, this is a great spot for families as it has fun stuff to do the next day like mini golf an adventure course and bowling to name a few https://www.hotelteugel.nl/en/

Any other random details?
In keeping with our personalities, this day is going to be super chill. We don't have bridesmaids, groomsmen, fancy sit down dinners or anything like that. Our plan is fun ceremony, anyone who wants to make a speech can (just inform my cousin Stephanie, we will point her out on the day) and gift wise (also no pressure as we know attending this is already a huge expense) we just want money to possibly spend on a honeymoon when we can afford it. But what you can expect is tons of good vibes, drinks & a fun selection of food for dinner. Oh - and don't worry, we have lots of fun planned for the kids too.
